Our
Mission:
Our
mission is simple: Promote Diversity In Fellowship.
As
the "sound guy / roadie" for How Praise, I have been
attending all of their local performances from open mics to feature
venues (and luckily I did or no one would be able to hear them!).
As a "techie geek" I love audio, video, computer, and
lighting equipment. As a "music geek" I love all types
of music. As a "techie geek" I love anything that lights
up, is computerized, special effects, and so on. At our last open
mic night at The Vine Bookstore, I thought "Hmmm, if we did
our own open mic at PUMC I can play with sound equipment, lighting,
video, and listen to music as well as share it with others. So
now mission in hand, I tackled How Praise and hounded them to
start our own open mic / musical events. The idea was already
being thrown around to start a Christian coffee house. Coffee?
Food? Music? And years passed (ok, 2 days) and Labyrinth was born.
As
we all met to discuss the purpose of Labyrinth, it became clear
to us that what we want to accomplish is a place to meet once
a month with the friends we have already made at the various music
events we have been to but also bring in new friends. To bring
a voice that is not limited to one type of music, but to show
that there are many more ways to worship God and sing his praises.
That the spirit comes to people in different ways and we want
to give them a forum to share that spirit.
From
Contemporary to Gospel, from Gospel to Bluegrass, from acoustic
guitars to drums, come out and celebrate what God has put in you
and share it with others!
All
proceeds raised from Labyrinth will go towards future coffee house
events as well as Prospect United Methodist.
I
hope that you come out to support our fellow musicians and share
in the musical fellowship experience we are hoping to create.

in Christ & song,

I
have always had a love for music of every genre. I have also always
had a love for all things electronic (fadeback to Marco and Gina’s
(our own remake of Tony and Tina's wedding) at PUMC when a quick
and easy setup ended up in hours going through DJ Lighting stores
for the “reception”)? And I am sure you can figure
out that I hated every minute LOL). Ok, I was totally in my glory!
I have worked for several theatre companies in the Pennsylvania
/ New Jersey area; including West Deptford Little Theatre (my
summer home), Spotlighters, Paulsboro High School, and now Sandy
Park Players. I have done every job imaginable from stage crew,
to stage manager, to crew chief. Set design, set construction.
Sound & lighting technician... As the sound technician for
HoWpraise! I have attended all of their performance events and
venues and have met a lot of amazingly talented Christian musicians
and performers and I am hoping through Labyrinth we can share
these wonderful people with a new audience.

Singing
has been a part of my life since the day I was born. My mom was
in the church choir and I used to sit under her big robes and
listen to the choir singing. My grandfather use to sing to me
in Spanish. That was then this is now. After getting married and
having 2 beautiful girls, I came back to music through our church's
choir. That choir evolved into the team of singers that it is
today. Meanwhile, God called me (kicking and screaming I might
add!) to become the Worship & Music Ministry Team Leader.
My reaction? God… are you crazy? He wasn't. I am still doing
that job at Prospect United Methodist Church. In all of that,
blessings keep on coming… HoWpraise! was born out of our
choir when 4 individuals wanted to go further with God's message
thru music. Then God sent us our drummer and techie. We are honored
to be the "house band" for the Labyrinth Coffee House.
And what an opportunity to meet other musicians called to do the
same work that we are doing! It just recharges me every time I
am around folks doing God's work. I also do Native American Mission
work, work at our local school, and call myself a techie too (Martin
and I have fun!). Can't wait to see you at the Labyrinth Coffee
House! God Bless!

Co-Founder, Artistic Director, Musician/Composer, HoW praise!
Having grown up in the various arts, my love of music is constantly
growing. I currently play over 25 orchestral instruments and compose
music frequently. Much of my time is spent working with HoWpraise
and writing all of their music. I have an overall appreciation
of the various genres and styles of music, more specifically,
those varieties in Christian Praise music is my focus and where
my heart lies. As Artistic Director for Labyrinth, I work with
my creative team on developing logos, promotional symbols, and
any visuals needed. This role also entails the fun task of auditioning
groups for the feature block and running the 'schedule' on performance
nights. Finally, I get to decorate and setup the look of Labyrinth
for each month's performance. "Music is my passion that guides
me through life and I hope to share this experience with all I
encounter."
